red is my favorite color

On my list of things to do is fix this blog. The formatting is all wonky and the tabs don't work and it could be much prettier. I also really need to update the wedding planning website before my old partner sues me... well likely she'll just keep sending me threatening emails but even those are pretty unpleasant to have to deal with (Not because she is mean. Her emails simply remind me of how very behind I am). Lucky for me, I picked up a nice virus while I was away in Chicago. Thank you free hotel wireless, you made sure I didn't leave Chicago without a memorable souvenir.

Usually I'm computer savvy enough to take care of stuff like this but after trying to get the little bastard virus off my machine since Friday, I have given up. I have decided to seek help and have found a computer doctor who promises miracles performed by tomorrow. Hence why I spent 15 minutes buzzing said doctor's apartment yesterday evening garnering many strange looks before I decided to reread the email which expressly requested I let him know what time I was coming by. Not sure why I decided to just show up other than I am sometimes a big idiot.

Tonight I try again.

Secretly I am wishing it takes computer doctor a little longer to fix my laptop. It's been nice to be able to blame falling behind on wacked out laptop when really, it's more due to biting off more than I can chew. But that's another story for another time... If computer doctor has to keep my laptop longer then maybe I can justify getting the Vivienne Tam edition of the HP Mini 1000. Couldn't you just see me rocking the wedding meetings with this beauty?

when i was 15, i was voted most charitable

I'm still recovering from the lay-offs at work last week. It's been a big adjustment period since I now have more on my plate. However I'm thankful to still be employed so it hasn't been too difficult to motivate myself to devote more time to work. (Although last night I took a breather and watched part 2 of the Real Housewives of New York City reunion special. So many choice quotes from that show. I even twittered about it because yes, I am that obsessed.)

This weekend:

  • Star Trek - I hope I don't fall asleep. On one of our first dates, Clyde invited me over for movie, which turned out to be Star Trek, which turned into me snickering and making snide comments until the end when I cried because someone died which didn't make it a good movie but did speak volumes about my emotional state and Clyde's patience. So even though Clyde likes Star Trek a little too much for his own good, I keep him around because he's just right for me. Also he surprises me with ice cream. Not too shabby.
  • Jenn's birthday bash. We have been told to dress up, wear something red, and to absolutely not be late. I'm thinking red pleather jumpsuit.
  • Massive stationery project for an upcoming wedding. I love the smell of rubber cement.
  • Walks around Green Lake. Our puppy Kevin is turning into quite the fatty, and so is his mother. That's Kevin with the cowlick and Rerun acting like he's still a puppy. (A few times I have made them wear a bumblebee and tiger costumes but Clyde has requested I take pity on them and refrain from further acts of pet abuse).
All in all, life is good.

we're all mad here

This is probably my most favorite fashion spread ever to come out of the pages of US Vogue. Thanks Sea Lorraine for linking here so I could relive my love for this fantasy shoot all over again.

I've always been quite enamored by the Alice in Wonderland story. Back in college, when backpacking through Europe, my friend J and I decided we needed to leave our mark on all the places we were going. I wrote "Alice in Wonderland" anytime I came across a pre-graffitied space. I think I knew that I would always look back on my traveling days like it was my own little time in Wonderland. We vowed we'd go back someday to see how many of our notes to ourselves survived. Years later, we still haven't been able to live up to that promise we made our young selves and I do sometimes cringe at how naive and silly I was during that time in my life, but I think I still try my best to leave my mark on the world.
